In Japan, there is a festival for girls which is rare in the world. It is called “Hina Matsuri”. Hina” means girl, and “matsuri” means festival.
Hina Dolls and Hina Matsuri
Hina dolls are an indispensable part of the Doll Festival. There is no one in Japan who does not know about them. Japanese women must have had the experience of having dolls bought for them when they were young. Hina Matsuri is a festival to decorate Hina dolls and celebrate with everyone and pray for good health.
Recently, however, more and more women do not own Hina dolls, and the traditional Japanese culture is fading away. Therefore, we have started an activity to let people around the world who are interested in Japanese traditional culture know about this wonderful culture.
I want people all over the world to know about the history and culture of Hina dolls and the meaning of owning them.
Introduction
I make Hina dolls in a workshop that has a history of 180 years. All Hinadolls are made by hand, and I put my soul into creating each one.
I am working to pass on the culture of Hina dolls and Hinamatsuri to the next generation. We hope that by transmitting Japan’s unique culture, more people will understand the beauty of Hina dolls.
